Description An MIT building designed by Frank Gehry is like a collage of shapes creating a complexity of facades & materials. The building is indicative of Gehry's interest in the juxtaposition of angular and geometric forms. It's probably the most creative architecture on the MIT campus, perfectly suited to the urban-industrial environment of Cambridge yet boldly unique. This environment is dominated by the university as well as the numerous bio-tech companies surrounding the campus.
Brian Rojo, Arlington, MA. Member Since March 2011 Artist Statement I'm a landscape architect with a curious eye for finding beauty and meaning in unexpected places. My portfolio contains many subjects, with an emphasis on landscape and architectural photography. I worked as a landscape architect for many years until I became disabled with a genetic disorder. As a result, I'm using photography as a means of expression, replacing the artistic sensibilities that I once found in my profession of designing landscapes and gardens. My aim is to seek out strong compositions and unique viewpoints of familiar and unfamiliar subjects. My interests range from rural to urban landscape, from modern to historic architecture, from plants to vernacular objects, from a sense of place to a sense of wonder. Ultimately, I hope to encourage others to find the beauty in their environment, and to be curious of the unfamiliar.
